Customer Service Reps lack the basic knowledge of what type of keys they can make duplicates for. Both email and phone call contacts confirmed this. A waste of 45 minute drive to find out they can't cut BMW keys. No apology! Don't waste your time, seek service elsewhere.
Keep the money local and call the pro's!!! Keep the money local.
My business used Shearer Security for ten plus years and i highly recommend them, both for my office security system and for safes that I purchased there. Very nice people to work with and dependable too!
I originally never had any issues with Shearer Security. It's an alarm company. You pay for what you get and it's a service rarely used but nice to have. What I will say is that whenever we had a false alarm, they were quick to call. Never experienced any outages with the alarm either. Some issues came up with billing that sort of got the ball rolling in our displeasure with Shearer. The issue was eventually resolved but it left a bad taste in our mouth. About a week after resolving the billing issue, we received a notice that our alarm would no longer work because of Verizon dropping its 2G service. Again, not really a big issue however to keep the alarm able to connect service the only options were 1) Pay over $200+ for their "discounted" rate to fix the issue or 2) Lock into another 2 years of service and include their "maintenance program" as well and have the fee waived. Our system was only 3 years old at the time and to think it was obsolete within that time frame didn't jive with me. I also didn't feel that it was our responsibility to pay for the upgrade since I was paying them for a service their product could no longer support. We also called to see if our alarm was a "2g" model. The employee (unk name) had somewhat of an attitude and said "You wouldn't get a notice if you didn't have a 2G Model." At that point with all the issues I decided to look around and found another security system. I contacted Shearer to cancel my account. I was on hold for quite a long time. I spoke with an employee, R. Patterson. I expressed my desire to discontinue our service with them and was told that I would need to send an e-mail requesting the same. I asked about my refund since I only used less than a month of the 4th year of service that I already paid for. I was told that monitoring services are non-refundable. I'm sure it's probably somewhere in the small print of the contract however it was 3 years into it and didn't remember. He put me with through with "Carol" and said that maybe there was something they could do to retrieve some of the $300+ I already paid. I was questioned as to why I wanted to leave and was told that she would speak with the owner to see if there was anything I could retrieve financially. I never got a response e-mail back from the company concerning my cancellation (per R. Patterson's directions" and never received a phone call regardless of a refund or not from Carol. This experience only solidifies my confidence in my decision to leave. With advancement in technology, there are a lot of options out there as far as security systems and ones without any "3 year mandatory minimum" contracts and lower prices. Look around and you can find better deals. I also work in a profession that allows me to share my experience and possibly help other people avoid the setbacks we dealt with. The sad part is, money means everything. That $300 could have been used for food for my family or since it was close to the holidays, a charitable donation to somebody who was in need. In the end, Shearer has my money. I'm smart enough to realize that I will never see that $ again. they got me with the "fine print." I would suggest you ask yourself if it's worth it or not.
I have an older car (1966) and surprise! Lost the keys. (dammit) So I called and scheduled an apt for a rekey. Two techs showed up on the scheduled day, and immediately set to work. They were professional, and polite. They had to disassemble my car door, in order to get the job done right. They were able to produce a set of keys for the whole vehicle, and replace my door panel, as if nobody touched it. The price?? Much Much less than what I had originally thought. PERFECT JOB!!! THANKS!! Yes, my peeps still eff me cause I lost the original set.
